As a Claims Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate, prompt, and thorough evaluation and management of claims. You will analyze and determine appropriate action steps while adhering to internal and external regulations and maintaining an industry-leading customer experience. Handling complex and sensitive claims situations, you will manage a caseload of complicated claims and engage in direct communication with various stakeholders, including employers, attorneys, external vendors, and internal business partners.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

  • Estimated Salary: $57,500 - $62,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
  • Benefits and Perks, 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.
  • Regular associates working 40 hours a week can earn up to 15 days of vacation each year.
  • Regular associates receive 11 paid holidays in 2024, which includes 2 floating holidays that are added to your prorated personal time to be used at your discretion.
  • Regular associates are provided sick leave through the use of personal time. Associates working 40 hours a week can receive up to 40 hours of personal time in 2024, which is prorated based on the start date. Additionally you will receive two floating holidays in 2024 by way of personal time that may be used at your discretion.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Analyze, evaluate, investigate, and makes critical complex claim determinations in accordance with policy provisions and government regulations; exercising limited discretion in the application of rules and procedures for claim handling and determinations.
  • Initiating payment or denial of complex claims according to policy provisions and procedures.
  • Establish and promote best practice claims management processes, actively engaging in networking with internal and external business partners.
  • Communicate with external and internal customers regarding specific claim information and department policies and procedures.
  • Drive participation in daily management through huddle involvement and support the implementation of process improvements.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Understanding of complex insurance provisions and contracts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate professionally with a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to accurately calculate complex disability benefits.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy, and the ability to work independently and apply a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making skills and critical thinking capabilities with the ability to make solid recommendations.
  • You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
  • Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.
  • Ability to work at our home office located in Omaha, Nebraska, in a hybrid environment. 

PREFERRED:

  • Seasoned knowledge of disability claims processing.
