In this role as Senior Vice President (SVP) Controller and Chief Accounting Officer you will lead and direct all financial accounting activities, including establishing, monitoring, and managing financial and accounting policies and procedures. You will oversee financial reporting, corporate tax, reinsurance operations, and accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Additionally, you will be responsible for interpreting and reporting financial data, designing and monitoring internal controls, and managing relationships with external auditors and service providers. 

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

  • Estimated Salary Range: $280,000 - $345,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Directs and controls the development and implementation of standardized financial accounting processes and policies, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of reported financial information.
  • Ensures that financial reports comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), statutory accounting principles (SAP), and other management financial reporting frameworks.
  • Oversees corporate accounting, accounts payable, investment accounting, regulatory and external financial reporting and analysis, and internal controls over financial reporting for accurate preparation and reporting of financial information.
  • Ensures compliance with the NAIC's Annual Financial Reporting Model Regulation (MAR) requirements for assessing internal controls over statutory financial reporting.
  • Manages internal financial product line reporting, financial reporting to the Board of Directors, rating agencies, and other constituents.
  • Collaborates with the Finance leadership team and senior leaders, offering strategic insights and forward-thinking solutions for company growth and profitability.
  • Partners with external auditors, co-sourcing partners, and financial technology vendors, overseeing reinsurance operations and corporate tax functions, including income tax, premium tax, sales/use tax, and other tax-related matters.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Seasoned financial professional with advanced business education and extensive experience in insurance accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, SAP, state insurance regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Expertise in reinsurance, tax, financial reporting, analysis, systems, and corporate accounting.
  • Skilled in forecasting, internal controls, and compliance with external reporting regulations.
  • Proven ability to drive complex projects, build effective relationships, and succeed in ambiguous environments.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic planning skills.
  • Detail-oriented team player with a drive to succeed, capable of analyzing data and making sound business decisions.
  • You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
  • Ability to work at our home office located in Omaha, Nebraska, in a hybrid environment. 

PREFERRED:

  • Advanced degree in Business, Accounting, Economics or Finance.
  • Public accounting experience in a leadership role
  • CPA designation
