Researches, analyzes and resolves all business aspects of annuity administration and lump sum payment processing spanning a variety of unique annuity and investment production including defined benefit, defined contribution pension plans, qualified and non-qualified benefits. Utilizes multiple payment alternatives impacting reserve and product line profitability. Completes all processes to ensure compliance with federal, state and business regulations and customer service requirements. Works with very little direct supervision.

The hours for this role  M-F 8am-4:30pm.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Works as the point person and dedicated contact for all external/internal client communications related to assigned annuity contracts and processes for multiple annuity product lines. Reviews and analyzes sold case materials.
  • Assists in identifying system or business process issues and takes ownership to resolve.
  • Manages all assigned contracts to meet stringent deadlines and provides customer service for those contracts that impacts overall team service goals. Analyzes and researches annuity set-up, lump sum payments and maintenance issues including overall annuity administration, death processing, overpayment recovery, and compliance concerns.
  • Interprets annuity certificate (legal document) provisions including provisions for early retirement, disability and death benefits. Creates early retirement benefits and optional annuity form illustrations for election by annuitant. Works with annuity underwriting and compliance areas to resolve issues regarding interpretation of certificate provisions. Identifies situations that must be elevated to Sr. Benefit Specialist, business systems consultants, management and/or compliance. Prints legal document (annuity certificate) and verifies accuracy of the data.
  • Updates Comprehensive Pension Administration System (COMPAS) segments for client/annuity arrangement or payment, processes initial checks, financial institution information and other related systems and databases to meet customer and management expectations.
    Researches, interprets and sets up federal and state income tax reporting information to meet federal and/or state requirements.

  • Strong knowledge and experience in annuities, insurance industry and the business area and knowledge of federal, state and business regulations impacting annuity administration.
  • Knowledge of defined contribution and benefit plan annuity administration practices.
  • Strong aptitude and ability to quickly learn multiple mainframe (COMPAS), PC (correspondence, document management), and corporate system applications (imaging, work-flow inbasket).
  • Strong knowledge of all business and business system applications.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, and spreadsheet software.
