Managing and developing an experienced and highly-skilled team of User Experience Developers and Digital Producers, as well as developing engaging experiences which match user needs with business goals, including reinforcing the Company's brand. Work with their team of developers, as well as designers, content strategists, technology and business partners to achieve marketing and corporate goals.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervises a team of UX Developers and Digital Producers
  • Closely collaborates with management to assist in balancing workload and project schedules for team members, as well as hiring and performance improvement needs
  • Coordinates onboarding efforts and on-the-job training
  • Collaborates with management on team performance and writing annual reviews
  • Actively fosters employees' growth in development of technical, business, and relationship management skills through effective communication, listening, and problem-solving techniques
  • Utilizes appropriate technologies to solve business and technical issues through proactive problem-solving, providing recommendations that meet business requirements, and adhere to architecture and technical standards
  • Assists in facilitating code reviews and promotes scalable front-end development workflows
  • Promotes and utilizes object-oriented structure and principles to ensure maintainability
  • Promotes and integrates ADA standards into projects to ensure customer adaptability
  • Promotes and ensures efficient experiences across multiple screens/devices
  • Advocates user focus across the organization and communicates the value and principles of user-centered design and development
  • Iterates on ideas based upon validated learning, critique, and collaboration
  • Adaptability and a contagious enthusiasm for continuous learning

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6+ years hands-on experience as Web or Front-End Developer, preferably as a member of UX team(s), with experience leading development on multiple projects
  • 2+ years of leadership/senior role, with high emphasis on collaboration and team building
  • Strong experience with HTML and CSS, implementing device-agnostic responsive web design
  • Strong experience with native JavaScript (strong ES6+ experience preferred)
  • Strong experience with a wide variety of CSS preprocessors and frameworks (PostCSS, SASS, etc)
  • Strong experience implementing and managing a wide variety of JavaScript libraries and frameworks (Vue.js, React.js, Angular JS, etc)
  • Strong experience with server-side scripting languages (PHP, Python, Ruby, etc.)
  • Strong experience absorbing/implementing APIs and working with HTTP, REST, and SOAP architectures
  • Strong experience managing project assets via version control (Subversion, Git)
  • Strong experience with object-oriented development
  • Experience implementing and configuring content management systems (Drupal, Wordpress, etc.)
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Familiarity of Google Analytics or other tag-based web analytics solutions
  • Places high value on the diverse strengths, backgrounds, and talents others bring to the workforce

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or relative degree or experience
  • Prior team-based management/leadership experience
  • Knowledge of Insurance and Financial Services Industries
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Building accessible components that conform to WCAG standards
    • Front-end security vulnerabilities
    • SEO architecture best practices
